Default for "Exclude Owned Contacts" to be checked - I want that uncheked

Default for "Include Graveyard Contacts" in unchecked - I want the checked

Can this be done? Is there a preference setting I have not seen?

No, but you're not the only one that would like it. Vote for the idea in the MIX: http://community.jigsaw.com/t5/Member-Idea-Exchange-MIX/can-we-have-the-option-to-make-our-default-n... You could set up a saved search with those criteria plus "United States" if you normally search US contacts but it might not save you any keystrokes since you'd have to click "Revise Search" to finish entering your criteria.

Your complaint about the current defaults is well-known. It's one of the biggest complaints about the current setup. With the new release right around the corner, hopefully this will change and we'll all have the ability to set our own search defaults. The following idea in the MIX dates back to July of last year and there are many more like it.
